Salient Features:

Woody plants with short trunk and best grows up to 6 to 9 m in height. Star-fruit is also known as Carambola. Fruits are usually small and dark green in colour when it is unripe, fruits turn yellow in colour when they are fully ripe. The entire fruit is edible, including the waxy skin. Unripe star fruits are firmer and sour, and taste like green apples. Ripe fruit are sweet, may be cooked as a vegetable, pickled, or made into jams Carombola is regarded as a fruit with high medicinal properties. It’s a small tree producing fruits many times a year in bunches.
